Gospel Hip Hop Artist Trip Lee Took To His Blog To Question Beyonce
Here is what Trip Lee had to say:
Music is a big part of my life so I’m always thinking about how to use it best. It’s hard for me to enjoy art without analyzing, taking notes, and asking questions. Beyoncé has our nation’s attention right now and she’s obviously one of our most beloved pop stars. The first lady even said if she could be anyone else, she’d want to be Beyoncé.
Beyoncé is more popular than she’s ever been, so you can’t turn on the TV or get online without seeing something about her, from reviews of her new album to pictures of her walking down the street with her daughter. I’m impressed by her talent and inspired by her drive, but I’m also puzzled by some things I see.
Beyoncé and I do have a few things in common. We’re both from Texas, and have lots of family in Houston. We’re both artists who’ve released around the same number of solo albums (though she’s just a little bit more well known than me). And lastly, we’re both sinners in need of God’s grace.
One of my questions:
Do you think the attention you draw to your own beauty and sexuality (which often distracts from your art) contradicts the message in songs like, “Pretty Hurts?” In that song, you seem to be encouraging young women not to kill themselves seeking perfection, and to focus on their souls rather than their smiles. But do you think the constant elevation of our standard of beauty— which you clearly meet— works against that message?

Donnie McClurkin on TBN said:
I had a pity party a week ago, I mean just a 54-year-old pity party,” he said, while interviewing Grammy-nominated solo artist Erica Campbell. “You ain’t never seen a man sit down and want mama and daddy at the same time, and have to deal with a sense of loss, and then rest back on your bed and imagine yourself resting in His arms and just saying ‘This will do. This will do.’”
McClurkin’s father’s demise at 79 came just four days after his minister son’s 54th birthday on Nov. 9,2013. His mother Frances McClurkin was also 79 at her time of death on Jan. 18, 2014 after succumbing to complications from a massive heart attack on Jan. 13.

David and Tamela Mann Celebrated 25 Years And
When asked what ignites their love and how they maintain the passion in their relationships, the following responses were given:
“Stay in love because when you’re in love, it covers a multitude of fault. Our relationship wasn’t based on good sex or having a lot of money. It was based on just straight friendship. That’s what has kept us.” -David Mann
“I pray and ask God to keep my heart and my eyes burning only for David Mann. I speak his name in my prayers, because I want the desire to stay, so when he touches me, I get chills.” -Tamela Mann
Good for them!
